I bought a tub with a promotional sticker in the shop, but the promotion has ended so I can’t take part. How can that happen?
In a promotion, we try to plan the availability of promotional packaging as well as possible. However, we have no direct influence over the speed with which tubs are delivered to shops and sold. Unfortunately, you may therefore sometimes find a promotional packaging on sale even though that promotion has ended.
Does ERU cheese spread need to be kept chilled?
You must keep our cheese spreads in the fridge. This is the only way we can guarantee their best by date. It’s no problem if the tubs are left out of the fridge for short periods, for example on your way home from the supermarket. However, it’s important that the cheese doesn’t get too warm (such as leaving it in the car). Put the cheese spread back into the fridge as soon as possible.
Is ERU cheese spread vegetarian?
ERU Maasdammer, ERU Chèvre doux and ERU Kids Snack are vegetarian. The cheese that we use in our spreads contains vegetarian (microbial) rennet. In fact, a big part of the cheese we use contains vegetarian (microbial) rennet. However, a few of the cheeses used in our cheese spreads may contain animal rennet. For that reason, we only describe ERU Maasdammer, ERU Chèvre doux and ERU Kids Snack as vegetarian. We can definitely guarantee that these products only contain vegetarian (microbial) rennet.
Does ERU cheese spread contain animal rennet?
99% of the cheese that we make contains vegetarian (microbial) rennet. However, it is possible that a few cheeses used in our cheese spreads contain animal rennet.
Is ERU cheese spread lactose-free?
We have no lactose-free cheese. Some of our cheeses are very low in lactose such as ERU Chèvre doux, ERU Prestige and ERU Crème de Brie. There are people with lactose intolerance who eat these cheeses. The level of lactose intolerance is the determining factor and that varies according to the individual.
What is pasteurisation and why do we do this?
All our cheese spreads are pasteurised. Pasteurisation is a process which optimises the shelf life and keepability of perishable food products. This is done by briefly heating the food so that harmful bacteria are destroyed. These harmful bacteria are not resistant to high temperatures. The process obviously involves minimum change or damage to the product.
Does ERU cheese spread contain whey powder?
Some of our cheeses contain whey powder. If a product contains whey powder, this will be included in the list of ingredients on the packaging.
Why aren’t the allergens listed in bold on all packaging?
For some ingredients, it’s clear that they contain allergens, such as cheese, milk powder, etc. In such cases, the allergens don’t need to be emphasised on the packaging. However, we feel it’s important to provide optimal information. We therefore plan to change all our packaging in the coming period to ensure that all the allergens are listed in bold letters.
How long can you keep ERU cheese spread after opening?
After opening, you can keep our cheese in the fridge for another 7 days. Make sure that you always use clean cutlery to spread the cheese. This will prevent contamination.
May I eat cheese spread if I’m pregnant?
When you are pregnant, you naturally wonder what you can and can’t eat, including our ERU cheese spreads. All our cheese spreads have undergone a heat treatment (pasteurisation) to destroy harmful bacteria. This makes it safe to eat cheese spread during your pregnancy.
